Notable projects that Austin has contributed to include: the Palace of the Lost City in South Africa; the redesign and remodel of the Blue Train in South Africa; the design of the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa; and the interior design of the Royal Mirage Hotel in Dubai UAE. 

Austin has focused exclusively on hospitality projects since the early 1990’s and has worked in close association with Paul Duesing Partners out of Dallas since 2002.

J. Mark Barry A.I.A. is co-founder of the architectural firm Barry Bull Ballas Design Inc. The firm was founded in 1999 with the intent of designing residential and small commercial projects.

Barry’s design focus has primarily been working with period style architecture, even though he was educated in modern design at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Barry worked for several local traditionalist architects prior to starting his own design office with business partner Jeff Ballas.  While in those offices, under the guidance of some of Dallas’ premier residential architects, he learned the importance of order and proportion as it relates to period style architecture. 

Barry has designed private residences ranging from twenty five hundred square feet to twenty six thousand square feet with design styles from Spanish Colonial and English Tudor to Texas Regionalist.  Barry has designed projects and second homes in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The architects at rise n°1 incorporated the use of the egg in the conceptual ideas for the interior space of the restaurant.  This involved replicating the shape of the egg in the ceiling and wall forms.  Architects Rodney Austin of R Austin & Sons USA, Inc. in Dallas and J. Mark Barry, A.I.A., of Barry Bull Ballas Design Inc. co-designed the space.

Architect Rodney Austin of R Austin & Sons USA Inc. was qualified and registered as an architect in South Africa in the 1970’s.

He practiced as a partner for sixteen years with Burg Doherty Bryant and Partners before starting his own company in Johannesburg. Austin worked on a number of projects in association with Wilson & Associates before starting an architectural and design consultancy in Dallas.
